About the role

The municipality of Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is seeking a development‑oriented Head of Department for MISI and the Support Personnel unit serving children and youth. Reporting directly to the Director of the Children and Schools Administration, the role will shape the strategic direction of the entire child‑ and youth‑service portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the professional and organisational development of MISI and the Support Personnel department.
• Drive cross‑functional collaboration across schools, early‑childhood institutions, preventive services and other municipal units.
• Redesign service delivery so that interventions are based on the child’s needs rather than budgetary or departmental boundaries.
• Participate in the senior management team to create a unified municipal approach for families.
• Oversee the implementation of flexible, early‑intervention resources and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior leadership within public administration or education sectors.
• Strong ability to challenge established practices and foster interdisciplinary cooperation.
• Commitment to placing children’s needs at the centre of service design.
• Excellent communication and change‑management skills.
