Fisheries Consultant – Operations and Environment

About the role

Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is looking for a fisheries consultant for its Operations and Environment department within the Infrastructure and Environment administration. The position suits an outgoing person with thorough knowledge of the regulations governing fishing and hunting, and is filled as soon as possible or by agreement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage living resources in the municipality's area
• Contact fishermen, hunters, recreational anglers, fishing organisations and the Self-Government
• Handle applications for hunting and fishing permits
• Advise on grants for buying vessels and register vessels with the Maritime Authority
• Take part in hearings and prepare case summaries for committees
• Act as secretary to the fishing council and help develop the fishing industry

Required profile

• Solid administrative experience in similar tasks
• Knowledge of fishing and hunting legislation and of subsidies for boats and equipment
• Good Danish and Greenlandic spoken and written skills
• Independent, responsible and proactive, with good communication skills
