About the role

The Department of Disability and Social Psychiatry is looking for a responsible and engaged health assistant for the Seernaq residential unit in Nuuk. This is a full‑time position (40 hours per week) starting on 1 July 2024, with primary daytime hours on weekdays. The assistant will work closely with colleagues to support residents in developing their mental, social and practical skills.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all regulations and guidelines.
• Observe and follow up on medication for residents with mental illness.
• Act as a mentor for health‑care interns.
• Provide teaching or brush‑up sessions on thematic days as needed.
• Collaborate with the unit manager, deputy manager, nursing department leader, health consultants, Ikaasaafik, Dronning Ingrids Hospital, disability caseworkers, therapeutic team and the prison service on medication handling.
• Support residents in daily living to promote independence.
• Serve as the primary contact with the health‑care system and maintain an overview of appointments.

Required profile

• Qualified health assistant with a completed medication course.
• Caring, approachable and committed to a positive work environment.
• Motivated to develop personally and contribute to departmental growth.
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Capable of teaching health documentation and providing health‑related guidance to staff.
