Support Person for Special Needs Child at Hans Lynge School

About the role

Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is looking for an engaged and caring support person to assist a child with special needs at Hans Lynge School in the Qinngorput district of Nuuk. This is a full‑time, 40‑hour per week position working directly with the child in a modern school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide social‑pedagogical support according to the child’s individual plan.
• Assist with daily tasks and promote increased independence.
• Support the child’s psychological, physical and social development.
• Participate in staff meetings, supervision sessions and status meetings with parents and administration.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff members.
• Prepare status reports and documentation.

Required profile

• Qualified as a support person or hold a pedagogical education, preferably with knowledge of diagnoses and disabilities.
• Or unqualified but with experience working with children and youth and practical support skills.
• Robust, patient, friendly, responsible and respectful.
• Able to work independently and cooperate with colleagues and parents.
• Bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, not a requirement.
