Social Helper for After‑School Care (4‑7 years)

About the role

We are looking for a Social Helper to work in the FRO Aqqaluk after‑school care centre in Nuuk’s old town. The role involves caring for children aged 4‑7 years from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, creating a safe and enjoyable environment after school.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support up to 70 children during the after‑school period.
• Plan and carry out spontaneous activities based on the children’s interests.
• Maintain a secure, welcoming atmosphere and ensure the children feel safe.
• Collaborate openly with parents, school staff and colleagues.
• Be present and responsive to the children’s needs throughout the day.

Required profile

• Qualified as a social helper.
• Genuine interest in working with children.
• Professional attitude and competence in the role.
• Responsive to children, staff and parents.
• Ability to plan activities spontaneously according to children’s interests.
• Active team player who values a good workplace.
• Experience with school‑age children.
• Fluency in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, not a requirement.
