About the role

The municipality of Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is looking for a dedicated Social Counselor to join Atuarfik Tuiisaq school in Paamiut. The position starts on 1 October 2026 (or as agreed) and is a full‑time role reporting to the school inspector.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate social work within the school, collaborating closely with the school inspector and teachers.
• Participate in networks with the Family Administration’s social counselors, health and prevention department, and Misi.
• Develop and improve school‑home cooperation together with teaching staff.
• Advise teachers on matters related to mandatory reporting.
• Act as a conversation partner for students and parents, and provide professional support to teachers.
• Co‑create action plans for issues such as substance abuse prevention, bullying, and crisis preparedness.
• Lead crisis response in classrooms, drafting action plans and offering guidance.

Required profile

• Relevant social work education.
• Initiative‑taking and ability to work independently.
• Experience as a social counselor (municipal experience preferred but not required).
• Fluency in Danish; Greenlandic is a plus.
• Strong collaboration, trust‑building, and a flexible, detail‑oriented personality.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, communicate clearly, and work under pressure.
