About the role

The Boenheden Manngua 6 residential unit, part of the Handicap and Social Psychiatry department in Nuuk, offers housing for nine adults (ages 18‑67) with physical and mental disabilities. This full‑time (40 hours per week) position involves day, evening and weekend shifts, working closely with colleagues to support residents in developing greater independence and quality of life.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents in daily activities such as walks, shopping, cooking and medical appointments.
• Implement individual care plans aimed at increasing self‑reliance and life satisfaction.
• Collaborate with team members, managers, external partners (e.g., police, social services) to ensure comprehensive support.
• Promote a positive community atmosphere within the unit.

Required profile

• Formal education in pedagogy or a related field.
• Compassionate, approachable attitude and commitment to a supportive work environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
• Flexibility and resilience in a busy, shift‑based setting.
• Experience in psychiatric care is advantageous but not mandatory.
