Social Worker for Special Needs School (Atuarfik Ilasiaq)

About the role

We are looking for a qualified social worker to join Atuarfik Ilasiaq, a special‑needs school in Greenland. The role involves supporting approximately 60 students across two school divisions, ensuring their social, emotional and developmental needs are met.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver social services for students in both school divisions.
• Conduct individual student meetings and parent‑teacher consultations.
• Provide advice and guidance to teachers regarding student welfare.
• Develop and follow up on individualized action plans and preventive measures, including anti‑bullying initiatives.
• Collaborate with external partners such as MISI, Peqqik, and school counsellors.
• Lead and organize network meetings and contribute to school emergency preparedness.

Required profile

• Qualified social worker or equivalent education.
• Experience working with children who have special needs.
• Fluent in Greenlandic and Danish.
• Ability to work independently, responsibly and efficiently.
• Strong communication skills with children, parents and staff.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using IT tools for documentation and communication.
