About the role

The municipality is looking for a compassionate support person to work with a child who has special needs at Nuuk International School. This is a part‑time position (20 hours per week) based on‑site, providing daily assistance and promoting the child’s independence.

Key responsibilities

• Support and train the child in psychological, physical and social development.
• Deliver social‑pedagogical support according to the child’s action plan.
• Assist with daily tasks within the school environment.
• Encourage increased independence through targeted activities.
• Participate in staff meetings, supervision sessions and status meetings with management and parents.
• Collaborate with other school personnel and prepare status reports.

Required profile

• Qualified as a support person or hold a pedagogical education, preferably with knowledge of diagnoses and disabilities.
• Unskilled candidates with experience working with children and youth are also considered.
• Robust, patient, friendly, cooperative, responsible and respectful.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility.
• Willingness to engage in pedagogical discussions with colleagues and parents.
• Bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage but not mandatory.
