About the role

The Handicap and Social Psychiatry department seeks a responsible and engaged health assistant for the Seernaq residential unit. This full‑time position (40 hours/week) starts 1 July 2024 and involves supporting 18 residents with physical and mental disabilities to develop their skills and live as independently as possible.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all rules and guidelines.
• Observe and follow up on medical treatment for residents with mental illness.
• Act as advisor for health‑professional interns.
• Provide teaching or refresher sessions during thematic days as needed.
• Handle medication in close cooperation with unit leadership, nursing managers, health consultants and external partners such as Dronning Ingrids Hospital.
• Collaborate with disability caseworkers, therapeutic teams and the correctional service.

Required profile

• Qualified health assistant with a completed medication course.
• Caring, welcoming attitude that contributes to a positive work environment.
• Motivation to develop personally and help the department improve resident outcomes.
• Ability to work independently and together with multidisciplinary teams.
• Capability to teach colleagues health documentation and provide professional sparring.
• Primary contact for the health system and oversight of resident appointments.
