Department Head – Service Area, Nursing Home Ippiarsuk

About the role

The municipality of Sermersooq is looking for an engaged and stable department head for the service area of the nursing home Ippiarsuk. The home houses 33 residents, including 10 places reserved for people with dementia, and also runs an activity centre for home-care recipients. It has six departments and about 70 employees.

Key responsibilities

• Lead quality assurance of the nursing home's service area together with relevant partners, ensuring everyone works together
• Be visible on site and lead by example with good leadership, empathy and competence
• Develop instructions, procedures and guidelines and train all staff
• Recruit, hire and dismiss staff, ensure agreements are met and write job descriptions
• Run shifts and holiday plans, manage archives and systems for each department
• Ensure a good working environment and keep an overview of the budget

Required profile

• Relevant education and/or flair for leadership, with experience in purchasing and warehouse administration
• Practical experience in elderly care and leadership experience preferred
• Present and available for colleagues; creative, positive and goal-oriented
• Good cooperation skills, decisive, flexible and loyal to the workplace
• General knowledge of IT
• Criminal record check required before employment starts
