Support Worker – Daycare Centre Paarsisoq

About the role

Paarsisoq, a daycare centre in Greenland with 90 children, is looking for an engaged and caring support worker for a child in its kindergarten department. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, and is covered by the agreement between the Greenlandic Home Rule Government and the relevant union.

Key responsibilities

• Support and train the child in its psychological, physical and social development
• Provide social pedagogical support according to the goals set in the child's action plan
• Help with daily tasks in the day programme wherever the child is
• Train the child in greater independence
• Take part in staff meetings, supervision and status meetings with management and parents
• Work with the other staff on the child's site and prepare status reports

Required profile

• Education as a support worker or a pedagogical degree, preferably with knowledge of diagnoses and disabilities; alternatively unskilled with experience with children and young people and practical help skills
• Robust, patient, friendly, good team player, stable, responsible and respectful
• Able to take responsibility and work independently
• Willing to cooperate with colleagues and parents and join pedagogical discussions about the work
• Dual proficiency in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage but not required

The position requires a criminal record certificate and a child protection certificate; employment can only start once the municipality has received satisfactory certificates.
