Child and Youth Counselor – School Focus (Fixed-Term)

About the role

Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is hiring a child and youth counselor for a fixed-term position at MISI (the Child and Youth Advisory Centre) focused on schools, from 1 November 2026 to 31 July 2027. MISI promotes well-being, learning and development among children and young people in Qeqertarsuaq through pedagogical-psychological advice to teachers, school leaders and other professionals, working closely with psychologists and other specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Advise and guide advisory teachers, teachers and school leaders on children's well-being and learning
• Take part in interdisciplinary work with psychologists and other colleagues at MISI
• Carry out annual assessments of children receiving special education or other special pedagogical support
• Support the implementation of special pedagogical recommendations in practice
• Contribute to professional development and knowledge sharing at MISI
• Other tasks agreed with the direct supervisor

Required profile

• Teacher training
• An academic follow-up such as cand.paed.psych or another relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage
• Experience in special education or the pedagogical-psychological field
• Ability to work independently in advisory and guidance roles
• Interest in strengthening colleagues through talks or hands-on mentoring
• Bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage but not required
