Afdelingsleder – daily pedagogical leadership

About the role

Maligiaq is seeking an engaged and professionally strong department leader to translate the institution’s values and pedagogical goals into a safe, structured, and developmental daily environment. The role sits at the heart of the team, working closely with children, parents, and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily pedagogical operations, ensuring clear priorities, workload distribution, and continuity.
• Provide professional guidance, feedback, and follow‑up on agreements and educational initiatives for staff.
• Plan, execute, and evaluate activities based on the needs of the child group.
• Monitor children’s wellbeing, development, and learning environment, documenting observations and interventions.
• Foster respectful parent collaboration and cooperate with relevant multidisciplinary partners.
• Contribute to staff meetings, professional reflections, work environment, and development of common procedures.
• Act as a liaison between the staff group and the institution’s director, handling delegated leadership tasks.

Required profile

• Qualified social pedagogue.
• Relevant pedagogical experience; coordination or leadership experience is an advantage.
• Ability to create direction, structure, and follow‑through in an appreciative manner.
• Strong decision‑making, prioritisation, and documentation skills.
• Professional, solution‑oriented communication with children, parents, staff, and partners.
• Respectful handling of disagreements and contribution to a healthy work environment.
• Good knowledge of Greenlandic and Danish is beneficial but not mandatory.
