About the role

The Department of Traffic and Supervision is looking for a Road Engineer or Road Planner to lead planning, coordination and development of the municipality's road and traffic infrastructure in Nuuk. The role involves close cooperation with external authorities, utilities, contractors, consultants and public transport providers.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, order and supervise public maintenance and development tasks such as snow removal, paving, excavations, signage, lighting and street furniture.
• Handle citizen inquiries, provide advice on traffic conditions, access roads, parking, drainage and road markings.
• Conduct GIS analysis, maintain the municipal infrastructure database and carry out traffic counts and citizen engagement.
• Prepare political briefing documents, development plans, consultation responses and information material for residents and officials.
• Participate in on‑call duty to manage emergencies, traffic accidents, critical infrastructure damage and winter services.

Required profile

• Engineering or other technical education with knowledge of road infrastructure.
• Interest in infrastructure and smart solutions; experience in the private sector, a contractor, or another public organization is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently, good collaboration skills and solution‑orientation.
• Familiarity with Greenlandic conditions; language skills in Greenlandic, Danish and English are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GIS and digital work processes.
