About the role

The municipality of Sermersooq seeks a Lead School Inspector to head Tasiilami Alivarpi, a municipal primary school with 336 pupils. The role focuses on creating a safe, supportive learning environment, improving student wellbeing, and strengthening school stability after a period of frequent leadership changes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and day‑to‑day leadership for the school, its staff, board, and students, fostering a collaborative team culture.
• Coordinate with village schools, oversee the student‑home program, and ensure alignment on curriculum development, attendance, and municipal initiatives.
• Manage school administration, finance, personnel, and facilities, working with two vice‑inspectors and four department heads.
• Drive school development projects, implement pedagogical strategies, and represent the school in municipal strategic discussions.

Required profile

• Visionary, action‑oriented, competent and progressive leader with strong delegation skills.
• Deep understanding of child wellbeing, learning processes, and pedagogical practice.
• Experience in school leadership, preferably several years, and ability to work in a bilingual (Greenlandic/Danish) environment.
• Excellent communication, listening, and empathy skills to engage students, staff, and parents.
