About the role

This is a workplace‑funded PhD position within Project HELLE, which aims to develop and implement a systematic method for incorporating the perspectives of children placed in care into the evaluation of placement quality and effectiveness. The research is anchored at Ilisimatusarfik’s Center for Children, Adolescent Research Environment (CARE) and is conducted in close collaboration with the Municipality of Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq.

Key responsibilities

• Design and test a methodological framework to capture placed children’s voices.
• Collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative data from local child welfare services.
• Collaborate with municipal officials, community members, and Indigenous knowledge holders.
• Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
• Participate in a research stay abroad as part of the PhD programme.

Required profile

• Relevant higher education (e.g., social sciences, anthropology, social work, health).
• Fluency in Kalaallisut, English and Danish.
• Interest or experience with Indigenous knowledge and local community work.
• Strong analytical abilities and capacity to work both independently and in teams.
• Eligibility to enrol as a PhD candidate under the university’s regulations.
