About the role

The Greenland Police are seeking a appointed police commissioner for a 12‑month assistance assignment in Aasiaat, starting March 2027 or later. The role offers independent leadership in a unique Arctic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Daily management of the entire district’s staff, including operational and case management, with regular travel to local stations.
• Chair the municipal local council, decide on preventive and targeted local police initiatives, and cooperate closely with the municipal director/mayor.
• Serve as primary contact for local partners such as businesses and institutions.

Required profile

• Appointed police commissioner with experience in emergency response, investigations or prevention.
• Operational readiness, ability to make decisions under time pressure and balance political, managerial and professional considerations.
• Capability to obtain security clearance up to "TOP SECRET" and maintain it throughout employment.

Required skills

• Leadership and operational management in police contexts.
• Strategic planning and coordination with municipal authorities and external partners.
