Full-Time Caseworker, Child and Youth Services

About the role

Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is looking for a full-time caseworker for child and youth services within the Department for Children and School. The department covers day care, school, MISI, leisure and culture, and its caseworkers handle referrals of children to day care, AKO, SPO, FRO and schools. The position starts on 1 January 2027 or later, and is advertised as a re-opened vacancy.

Key responsibilities

• Refer children to day care in the municipality, including urgent applications
• Register guest students/migrants and incoming first graders at school
• Maintain, update and review the waiting list for day care
• Admit and discharge children from day care
• Attend meetings and set quotas for day care institutions
• Provide service to parents of children on the waiting list and enrolled children
• Calculate and collect fees, including changes linked to income changes
• Other office work as needed

Required profile

• Office education or equivalent; experience in similar tasks is welcome
• Dual-language proficiency in writing and speech, able to handle minor interpreting tasks
• Good communication and teamwork skills, good language skills
• Ability to stay organised under pressure, flexible and stable
• Open-minded, independent and service-oriented
