About the role

This part‑time position (20 hours per week) supports a child with special needs at Nuuk International Free School. The role focuses on fostering the child’s psychological, physical and social development while promoting greater independence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide social‑pedagogical support according to the child’s individualized plan.
• Assist with daily tasks and routines within the school environment.
• Train the child to increase self‑reliance and independence.
• Participate in staff meetings, supervision sessions and status meetings with parents and administration.
• Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure consistent care.
• Prepare status reports and maintain documentation.

Required profile

• Formal education as a support person or pedagogical qualification, preferably with knowledge of diagnoses and disabilities.
• Alternatively, relevant experience working with children and youth, including practical assistance skills.
• Robust, patient, friendly, collaborative, responsible and respectful.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility.
• Willingness to engage in pedagogical discussions with colleagues and parents.
• Bilingual ability in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage but not mandatory.
