About the role

The municipality of Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is looking for a qualified Family Care Consultant to join the family care team in the Tasiilaq area. The role involves supporting foster families, handling case work, and ensuring compliance with legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Actively recruit and assess foster families in Tasiilaq and surrounding villages.
• Process applications for foster family approval and manage related case work, including reporting of care allowances.
• Provide training, guidance and both social and pedagogical counseling to foster families.
• Supervise foster families and collaborate with the authority department to ensure proper placement of children and youth.
• Work on home‑return cases and contribute to the development of the family care area.
• Handle ad‑hoc tasks concerning children in family care, in close cooperation with the team and the authority department.

Required profile

• Education as a social worker, pedagogue or advisor in social work.
• Strong ability to read and interpret legislation.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Capacity to collaborate with relevant parties, working systematically and holistically.
• Stable, robust and professionally skilled, with loyalty to administrative frameworks.
