Underground Mechanical General Foreman

About the role

The Underground Mechanical General Foreman leads the safe, efficient, and reliable mechanical maintenance of underground mining equipment, fixed plant, mobile equipment, and supporting infrastructure. Working on a 4‑week on/4‑week off rotation, the foreman ensures maintenance activities are planned, scheduled, and executed to meet production targets while maintaining a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all mechanical maintenance activities for underground equipment and infrastructure.
• Provide direction and accountability for maintenance personnel and contractors.
• Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
• Coordinate daily, weekly, and long‑range maintenance planning and scheduling.
• Monitor equipment performance, conduct root‑cause investigations, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage major repairs, rebuilds, shutdowns, commissioning, and projects.
• Oversee spare parts, consumables, tools, and inventory management.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost‑control activities.
• Facilitate training, mentoring, and competency development within the team.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in underground mechanical maintenance.
• Strong safety‑first mindset and compliance awareness.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple maintenance programs.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with operations, electrical, and technical services teams.
