Support person for special‑needs child at Nuuk International Free School

About the role

Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is looking for an engaged and caring support person to assist a child with special needs at Nuuk International Free School. The position is part‑time, 20 hours per week, working within a team of staff and other support persons.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general support and training to promote the child’s psychological, physical and social development.
• Deliver social‑pedagogical support according to the child’s individual plan.
• Assist with daily tasks in the school setting and encourage greater independence.
• Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and status meetings with management and parents.
• Collaborate with other personnel and prepare status reports.

Required profile

• Qualified as a support person or holding a pedagogical education, preferably with knowledge of diagnoses and disabilities.
• Resilient, patient, friendly, collaborative, responsible and respectful.
• Able to work independently and take responsibility.
• Willing to engage in pedagogical discussions and cooperate with colleagues and parents.
• Bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage but not required.

Required skills

• Practical abilities to assist children and young people with special needs.
• Experience in supporting children’s daily activities and fostering independence.
