Social Worker for Homeless Services

About the role

Gadeteamet is looking for a qualified Social Worker to join its street‑outreach and social‑skill training team serving homeless and socially vulnerable citizens in Nuuk. The role involves direct contact with clients in informal settings, assessment, planning and coordinated follow‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct street‑based outreach in areas where the target group gathers.
• Deliver social‑skill training sessions (both group and home‑based) for up to 85 participants.
• Provide assessments and create care plans at the Uummateqarfik/Hjerterummet centre.
• Coordinate access to basic services such as showers, clean clothing, haircuts and emergency shelter.
• Maintain systematic documentation and follow‑up of each client’s progress.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary partners and local authorities.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker (Socialrådgiver) degree.
• Genuine curiosity and empathy for the target group.
• Ability to build close relationships with vulnerable individuals.
• Resilience and robustness in challenging environments.
• Knowledge of Nuuk and its social landscape.
• Flexibility, systematic work approach and strong planning skills.
• Good oral and written communication in Greenlandic and Danish; English optional.
• First‑aid certification (preferred but not mandatory).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook for scheduling and communication.
