Caretaker / Maintenance Worker for Elderly Care Centre

About the role

The caretaker will ensure the daily operation and upkeep of the Ippiarsuk care centre, supporting both residents and staff in a respectful, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of the building, both interior and exterior, and report any deficiencies.
• Carry out small repairs on structures and furniture, and oversee technical installations.
• Assist with moving residents in and out of rooms, including set‑up of assistive devices for events.
• Maintain washing machines, cleaning equipment, wheelchairs and other aids.
• Act as driver when needed and serve as fire safety instructor.
• Participate in safety and staff meetings, and handle larger procurement after managerial approval.

Required profile

• Vocational training in a craft or other technical field.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Honest, reliable, flexible and service‑oriented.
• Ability to work independently and follow municipal values and hygiene regulations.

Required skills

• Practical building maintenance and repair skills.
• Basic knowledge of technical installations and safety procedures.
