CIS Officer in J6 at Arctic Command, Nuuk

About the role

The Arctic Command (AKO) is seeking a CIS Officer (CISOF) for its J6 Communications section in Nuuk, Greenland. You will support the development, operation and security of communication and information systems in a challenging Arctic environment, contributing to the Command’s role as an operational headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Process cases across the communications domain, including classified and unclassified systems.
• Act as cryptographic security officer (KRYSOF) and manage cryptographic solutions.
• Develop concepts and studies in cooperation with defence authorities and prepare implementation of the 2024‑2033 agreement.
• Handle joint satellite communications covering Greenland and the North Atlantic, and manage HF/VHF/UHF radio communications.
• Conduct operational analysis, project work and participate in new headquarters construction groups.

Required profile

• Rank of Captain, Lieutenant‑Captain or Major (M322) with experience in high‑level staff case handling and signal services.
• Proven ability to build communication and information systems with a strong focus on transmission.
• Excellent relationship‑building, teamwork and independent work skills.
• Ability to explain complex technical topics in clear, understandable language.
• Physical and health standards suitable for service in all NATO territories and Arctic conditions.
