Social Counselor for Atuarfik Hans Lynge School

About the role

The municipality of Sermersooq is seeking a dedicated Social Counselor to join the team at Atuarfik Hans Lynge school in Nuuk. The position starts on 1 October 2026 (or as agreed) and is a full‑time role reporting to the school inspector.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate social work within the school, collaborating closely with the school inspector and teachers.
• Participate in networks with the Family Administration’s social counselors, health and prevention department, and Misi.
• Develop and improve school‑home cooperation together with school staff.
• Advise teachers on matters of mandatory reporting.
• Act as a conversation partner for students and parents and provide professional support to teachers.
• Create action plans for issues such as substance abuse prevention, bullying, and crisis management.
• Lead crisis response for classes, drafting action plans and offering guidance.

Required profile

• Relevant social work education.
• Initiative, ability to work independently, and strong collaboration skills.
• Preferably bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish (not mandatory).
• Stable, detail‑oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks without losing overview.
• Clear written and oral communication, service‑oriented, and flexible.
• Resilient, proactive, and able to contribute to continuous improvement.
