Head of Planning Unit, Nuuk

About the role

Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is looking for a professional manager for its planning unit in Nuuk, within the Department for Infrastructure and Environment. The unit works together with the Building Affairs department to shape the municipality's housing so that it benefits residents. You will lead a competent team of five urban planners and take part in cross-departmental tasks and cooperation with citizens and business.

Key responsibilities

• Support the unit's staff in municipal planning and strategies
• Handle citizen inquiries related to planning
• Quality-check the unit's planning cases
• Take part in developing the Planning and Authority department together with the other management group

Required profile

• University degree in a technical field and understanding of strategic planning
• Clear, visionary communication in drawing, writing and speech
• Structured and able to cope with pressure
• Good relationships with external stakeholders and across the organisation
• Commitment to developing the municipality and its processes

The position requires a criminal record check; employment can start only after the municipality has received it from the police. Pay and conditions follow the current agreement between the Greenlandic Self-Government and the relevant union, with a three-month probation period. Housing is not provided.
