About the role

Maligiaq is looking for a qualified Nutrition Assistant to manage daily kitchen operations and provide healthy, tasty, and safe meals for children. You will work closely with management and pedagogical staff to ensure meals meet nutritional standards, accommodate allergies, and support a positive food culture.

Key responsibilities

• Plan menus and prepare balanced, child‑friendly meals.
• Handle allergens, intolerances and documented dietary needs.
• Manage purchasing, receiving, stock control and cost‑effective use of ingredients.
• Maintain kitchen hygiene, cleaning, temperature control and self‑inspection records.
• Reduce food waste through responsible sourcing and sustainable practices.
• Collaborate with leadership and educators to promote a positive meal environment.
• Organise kitchen workflow to ensure timely and safe service during busy days.

Required profile

• Qualified nutrition assistant or equivalent kitchen‑related education.
• Knowledge of nutrition, food safety, hygiene and self‑control procedures.
• Ability to work independently, structured and financially responsible.
• Awareness of children’s varying needs and ability to adapt meals by age and dietary requirements.
• Stable, flexible and collaborative attitude with respect for children, parents and colleagues.
