Control Room Operator

About the role

The Control Room Operator ensures safe, continuous operation of the Nalunaq ore processing plant from the control room. Working on a 4‑weeks on / 4‑weeks off rotation, you will monitor plant performance via SCADA, respond to alarms, and coordinate with field and maintenance teams to maintain production targets and metallurgical performance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the plant through the SCADA/control system, tracking parameters such as flows, densities, pressures, and equipment status.
• Identify abnormal conditions and execute corrective actions according to standard operating procedures.
• Adjust operating parameters to meet production targets, process stability, and recovery goals.
• Coordinate plant start‑ups, shutdowns, equipment changes, and controlled transitions with field operators.
• Respond promptly to alarms, investigate causes, and escalate issues when necessary.
• Work closely with maintenance personnel during faults, planned maintenance, and return‑to‑service activities.
• Maintain accurate shift logs, recording alarms, equipment issues, and significant process changes.
• Communicate effectively with the Shift Supervisor, Plant Manager, metallurgy, and technical staff.

Required profile

• Commitment to a strong safety‑first culture and adherence to all safety policies and regulations.
• Ability to work the 4‑weeks on / 4‑weeks off shift rotation in a remote plant environment.
• Excellent communication skills for coordination with operators, maintenance, and management.
• Proactive attitude toward identifying single‑point failures and emerging risks.
• Experience in a mining or industrial processing setting is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SCADA and plant control systems.
• Knowledge of crushing, grinding, gravity recovery, flotation, and filtration processes.
• Understanding of concentrate handling, reagent management, and utilities in a gold processing plant.
• Ability to interpret process data, trends, and alarms.
• Experience with plant start‑up, shutdown, and equipment change procedures.
• Familiarity with shift logging and operational record‑keeping.
